Slate roof, Ocle Pychard

Slate roof and chimney repairs on farm house in North Herefordshire

A beautiful house in need of a new roof. Chimneys also need some work.

Scaffolding up.

A close up to illustrate the state of the slating

Flat roof discovered to be in a bad way

Damp under felt

Condensation forming on underside of felt due to lack of ventilation the root-cause of most flat roof failures

Same roof with breather-membrane installed over new insulation and under counter-batten to aid ventilation .

Flat roof finished, now in EPDM rubber membrane. Also new hand-made double-glazed skylight.

One of the chimneys with an interesting flue set up.

The other chimney in quite a perilous state

Slates re-laid on the front elevation using stainless steel slate hooks

New slating with re-built chimney in background

Slating on rear of house was done with new Brazilian slates to save money

 New lead gutter lining

 Oak boards and repaired chimney
