Joist repairs, Llangarron

Deathwatch beetle had thrived in the damp environment of this cottage wall. Penetrating damp from poor masonry maintenance, poor ventilation (uPVC windows fitted, always tight shut) and an unwillingness to heat the house were all contributing factors. All infested timbers were removed, remaining timbers were borax treated before scarfing into new sections.
